I love mushrooms. And It’s a dream of mine to be able to forage, cook and eat them without fear. When the first of these mushrooms popped in our own garden, I thought it was an egg! It was round and firm to touch. When I showed it to my daughter she said, “Puff mushroom ‘yan, Ma!” Wait… Whaaat?! How come she knows this and I don’t? 🙂 I grabbed my phone and went straight to Google lens. True enough. It’s a Puff Mushroom! Edible only when it’s still white from the inside and is great at absorbing different kinds of flavor.
Having mushrooms in your garden is a sign of a healthy soil. They say that they are nature’s recyclers. They breakdown decaying matter and transforms them into good nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus to feed your plants. They also improve soil structure making it more aerated and absorbent for water.
Now only if we can eat these mushrooms too… I really wish I have an available expert to ask… huhuhu. For now, I’ll just settle for taking pics and imagining them frying in my head. 🙂
